Jaipur traces back its origins to 1727 when it was established by Jai Singh II, the Raja of Amber. He shifted his capital from Amber to the new city because of the rapidly-growing population and an increasing water scarcity. Noted architect Vidyadhar Bhattacharya used the established principles of Vastu Shastra to build the city.

The city of Jaipur was founded on 18th November 1727 by Maharaja Jai Singh II, the ruler of Amer, when he planned to shift his capital from Amer. It is believed that Jaipur was India's first planned city and was planned according to the vastushastra. The architect of Jaipur was Vidyadhar Bhattacharya, an architect from Bengal. The construction of the city began in 1727 and took four years to complete the major roads, offices and palaces. The city was divided into nine blocks, two of which contained the state buildings and palaces, with the remaining seven allotted to residents of the city. Huge ramparts were built around the city, pierced by seven fortified gates.

Geography of Jaipur
Jaipur is located on the east border of the Thar Desert, the only desert in India. The city of Jaipur is enclosed by the Aravalli Hills from three sides, which guard the city from the rough and dry climate of the desert. Jaipur is considered to be one of the well-planned cities of India and follows a grid method of construction that follows Vastu Shastra.
Jaipur Climate
Jaipur has a hot semi-arid climate and is known for its warm weather. During summer, Jaipur can get quite hot, with temperatures reaching up to as high as 44 degrees in May. During monsoon, there are frequent rains, but Jaipur’s winter months are lovely. The weather is a pleasant 18 degrees although there can be occasional cold waves. During winters, though sometimes the temperature can fall below freezing.
